Learn about Giovanni Pittui
Born on 10 July 1926 in Cagliari to Sardinian parents, Giovanni Pittai developed a passion for drawing from an early age and never stopped cultivating it.
After graduating in Mining Engineering from the University of Rome 'La Sapienza', he was faced with a difficult choice between his innate artistic inclinations and a career as an engineer. He opted for the latter, working in Argentina but still exhibiting his paintings brought from Italy to Cañadon Seco in 1962.
He then moved to Buenos Aires where he organised a number of exhibitions in the prestigious residences provided by the company.
In 1974, he was transferred to Tehran where he stayed until 1977, before returning to Italy the following year and settling in Milan until 1986.
Here he found more space to paint and organise exhibitions, also producing a series of works including the lithograph portfolio 'Il Giuòco dei Re'.
In 1986, he left his job as a manager to devote himself completely to art, moving to Rome and devoting himself to painting and ceramics.
He enjoyed the company of his family, having married Catherine (Director of Cleaning Suites Roma Pinxit) and becoming a father to Livio in 1979.
Fatherhood has certainly contributed to improving his quality of life and character.
His artistic career led him to present numerous solo exhibitions in Argentina, Iran and Italy, as well as to participate in several thematic group exhibitions. In 1981, he participated in the 'National Art and Chess Trophy'.

His mission
Giovanni's artistic vision has focused on the representation of reality through an attentive and sensitive gaze. He believes that art should convey emotions and feelings, which go beyond mere visual representation, and can speak directly to the soul of the viewer. His painting is characterised by a strong use of colour and a careful choice of subjects, ranging from nature to landscape, from the human figure to the abstract. His vision of metaphysical and surrealist art is that of a universal language that transcends language and cultural barriers, able to communicate with everyone indiscriminately.
