A medallion contains two symbolic mannequins, equipped with the distinctive signs of what were defined as the "abstract virtues", then repeated at the corners of the canvas, as a corollary of a tribute to Cesare Ripa (1560-1625).
In Icologia, Ripa dictated to Baroque artists the canons of representation in human form of abstract qualities (Imagination, Parsimony, Constance etc.)
